Art: Happening

F3 at the Cotton Mill

Friday Jan 25, 2013 (6–10pm)

Cotton Mill Studios

1091 Calcot Pl

The booming Oakland art scene oft unfolds itself in cranny habitations. You’ve seen the Cotton Mill off 880 in industrial Oakland, the seemingly dilapidated brick behemoth with the outdated analog clock tower and smudgy, layer after rush hour layer facade. This was for a long time the largest textile mill west of the Mississippi, before being sliced samurai style by the construction of the Nimitz freeway. Now it hosts the more intimate, speakeasy-ish friday art happening F3. A free shuttle will ferry you from Fruitvale BART station to F3 at Cotton Mill Studios where you will cross the threshold from grit and concrete to art and fine taste, champagne, food trucks, spoken work and live music bliss.

F3 says…

A compendium of art, design, and all types of craftsmanship to be presented by the residents of the famous Cotton Mill Studios. Open artist's studios are featured all throughout the building. The fourth floor features our artists' galleries. The second floor hosts our spectacular design bazaar and on floor one, visitors can find multiple food options and F3 merchandise for sale! The Cotton Mill is on a dead end street so parking will be tricky. Instead, park at the Fruitvale Bart, we'll have a free shuttles to take you to the Cotton Mill, and then back again.
