“Responsibly grown food is often thought to sacrifice taste for ethics. The Good Food Awards strive to prove the opposite, celebrating edibles that nurture both the taste buds and the sources that they came from: the environment, producers, workers, and the community. Now in its third year, the Good Food Awards ceremony is organized by foodie journalists, farmers, and producers. This year's finalists, which were determined by blind tastings, include many local favorites from farmers' markets, as well as sustainable producers from all over the country. The 99 winners are unveiled on January 18 by local culinary legend Alice Waters. The winners are then showcased the next day, January 19, at the Ferry Building for the ultimate good food extravaganza — a bustling marketplace where the public is welcome to taste, shop, and buy. Arrive early for the best pickins', or consider springing for a $15 early access ticket. Entrance to the Marketplace's Beer & Spirits Garden also costs an extra $15, well worth the price.”
