San Francisco loves its books. San Francisco loves its food. So when literature and culinary delights marry for a night, chances are that it's gonna be tantalizing. SOMArts' Feast of Words is a monthly themed dinner party wherein you eat elbow-to-elbow at the same table as renowned writers. This month, feast alongside Cassie J. Sneider as she addresses the night's theme, "Back to the Future," by reading selections about growing up in the town of Lake Ronkonkoma, Long Island. Sneider, who's a member of the queer spoken word performance troupe Sister Spit, just returned from the annual month-long, ever-raucous Sister Spit nationwide bus tour. Be assured she'll have some stories to tell about Sister Spit, Lake Ronkonkoma, and who knows what else. This evening, you also get treated to Kuukua Dzigbordi Yomekpe's Ghanaian cuisine.

Feast of Words says…

Sneider grew up in the murky depths of Lake Ronkonkoma, New York, a town with a haunted lake, a trailer park, and a record store. She put 240,000 miles on a Toyota Echo doing readings all over the country. Cassie J. Sneider collects 8-tracks and new friends. You can catch her on the Sister Spit 2012 national tour.
