Conference: Publishing

East Bay Alternative Book and Zine Fest

Saturday Dec 8, 2012 (10–5pm)

Berkeley City College

2050 Center St

Tomas Moniz produces a parenting zine called Rad Dad, in which Moniz tackles such tough and earnest subjects as "talking with our kids about politics and hope." As part of his own political worldview, Moniz champions independent and alternative press. He thus organized, with a team of like-minded denizens of the indie world, the first East Bay Alternative Press Book Fair in 2010. It's back for its third installment, today at a city college near you, free of charge to all, newly christened as the East Bay Alternative Book and Zine Fest. Expect the event to be packed to the rafters with familiar and new local talent, including Jen Oaks Illustration, Endless Canvas, Rock Paper Scissors Collective, and Little Black Cart. Welcome to the publishing world of the people.

East Bay Alternative Book and Zine Fest says…

This year we've expanded! We will have a second room; we will host workshops on zines in libraries, screen-printing, letterpress, comic illustration and d.i.y. beauty products. Our special guest speakers will be Adam Mansbach, author of Go the F*#k to Sleep and Rage is Back, as well as author and illustrator Eric Drooker. We also have over 60 local writers, publishers, artists and comic makers sharing their ware.
