When we were in middle school, a DJ at the local college radio station used to do something called "Mandatory Melvin Mondays" each week. At the time, our pubescent brains could not comprehend the appeal. "But they're so slooooow," we would whine, stupidly. If only we could go back in time and beat ourselves up! The Melvins are, to a fervent few, the greatest band that has, and ever will, grace a stage. Since 1983 they have released a staggering 25 records of the heaviest, weirdest, Sabbath lovin'-est, pot smokin'-est rock to date, and every single one of em' rule. Don't be a weenie like the 14-year-old us, go see the Melvins. The band plays its second-to-last show of the year at the Great American Music Hall tonight, fresh off of a Guinness Record-breaking tour of all 50 states plus Washington, DC, in only 51 days.

Great American Music Hall says…

To date the band has released 25 original albums, numerous live full-lengths and far too many to count singles and rarities. They’ve partnered with Jello Biafra, Lustmord and Fantomas for individual releases and toured the world many times over (most recently making headlines for being in both Christchurch and Tokyo for their 2011 earthquakes).
