Indie rock has legendary Neutral Milk Hotel recluse Jeff Mangum, hip hop/R&B has the recently returned fugitive Ms. Lauryn Hill. After debuting with rap crew the Fugees and dropping one phenomenal solo album in the '90s, Hill went erratically off radar in the 2000's, retreating to the New Jeresey suburbs to raise her five children with Bob Marley's fourth son, Rohan. She recorded an MTV Unplugged album laced with bitter, paranoid rants; rejoined the Fugees for a brief but ultimately doomed reunion; sporadically leaked some new songs; gave religiously-tinged quotes denouncing "the machine" of fame; and unpredictably appeared when booked for concerts. Her set at last year's Coachella, though, was by all accounts a miraculous comeback — Amy Klein, writing for Flavorwire, called it "just what we've been waiting for, without even realizing it, for the past ten years." Ms. Lauryn Hill takes the stage with Nas tonight, as part of the duo's Life Is Good/Black rage tour.

Fox Theater says…

Both musicians, who are responsible for influencing a generation of music lovers, will share the stage for an experience that fans have long been waiting for. The tour takes its name from Nas's groundbreaking #1 album, Life Is Good and "Black Rage," a new song by Ms. Lauryn Hill about the derivative effects of racial inequity and abuse.
