Journey to the End of the Night

Saturday Nov 10, 2012 (6pm)

Mission Dolores Park

19th at Dolores St

Checkpoints, safe zones, the sound of your own breathing as you engage in a footrace against chasers through dark alleyways in the winter darkness of the city — such is the stuff of Journey to the End of the Night, an epic free street game that uses San Francisco's cityscape to engage participants in a real-life suspense flick. Created in 2006 by a trio of urban explorers who call themselves Anti-boredom, Journey was designed in the vein of bike messenger races, parkour, and tag. Participants race through the streets to capture signatures at designated checkpoints, all while using stealth, speed, and wits to avoid being caught by "chasers." The object of the game: making it to the finish alive. Journey has been played by more than 5,000 people around the world, and last year's SF game drew over 600 participants. Join the fun tonight... we dare you. Just don't forget your wits and running shoes.

Journey to the End of the Night says…

Journey to the End of the Night is a free street game of epic proportion run by volunteer masterminds in cities around the world. It is a race/chase through city streets at night. The city spreads out before you. For one night, drop your relations, your work and leisure activities, and all your usual motives for movement and action, and let yourself be drawn by the attractions of the chase and the encounters you find there.
