Peralta Junction Pop-Up Creative Commons

Oct 4, 2012 – Nov 30, 2012

Daily (schedule)

Peralta Junction

Mandela Pkwy and West Grand Ave

Like a great traveling carnival, the Peralta Junction Project has come to roost for three months in a 24,000-square-foot vacant lot in West Oakland — complete with striped circus tents, a midway, artisans and vendors, food trucks, and all-ages fun. Enjoy a movie or two on Thursday nights; carve a pumpkin; gape in amazement at the Mousetrap, a 25-ton Rube Goldberg machine; or catch a live performance. It's up to your imagination how you might interact with or participate in this pop-up collaboration, which calls only for your whimsy and enthusiasm. Step right up!, step right up!, and catch the circus before it rolls out of town!

Peralta Junction says…

For three months this fall, The Peralta Junction Project will change the nature of weekends in West Oakland, utilizing the strong local presence of the industrial arts and artists to create rich social and economic opportunities for our often-challenged neighborhood. The project team will clean up and activate the space through art installations, creative workshops, local performing arts programming, micro retail shops featuring local artisans, Oakland-based food trucks, and a tented creative commons.
