The Metropolitan Museum of Art says…

David Lang’s Pulitzer Prize-winning Little Match Girl Passion is hailed as “a modern masterpiece” by the New Yorker. This haunting and profound tale is based on a short story first published in December 1845 by Danish poet Hans Christian Andersen. Little Match Girl Passion is the story of a poor girl’s hopes, dreams, and heavenly visions as she struggles to stay warm on a cold New Year’s Eve night. The Crossing is an award–winning 24-member professional chamber choir and one of the only professional choirs in the world dedicated to singing new and recently composed works exclusively. They are the recipients of the 2009 and 2011 ASCAP Awards for Adventurous Programming. This performance will take place in front of the Met Museum’s Christmas Tree and Neapolitan Baroque Crèche in the Medieval Sculpture Hall.
