Cleverly playing with the stereotypes of the summer camp genre, Billy Witch invites the audience to enter the theatre as if it's really the first day of camp, complete with secret salutes and writing letters home to parents. But it soon becomes clear that these campers are going through a much more awkward, bizarre and drastic transition than mere puberty. Playwright Gregory S. Moss balances many laughs with an examination of different forms of bullying and the strength needed to challenge corrupt authority. Eric Bryant steals the show as Arden, a closeted, horny gay jock thinly veiling his blatant desires by using homophobic insults, while concealing an even more surprising true identity.
