Welcome to the Machine directed by Avi Zev Weider
Nov 8, 2012 – Nov 16, 2012
“It's been a scaly mountain to climb, but science seems to be shedding some of its inaccessible skin thanks in part to cool and enlightening events like the Imagine Science Film Festival. Celebrating its fifth anniversary, the nine-day exploration takes place at venues across the city and includes feature- and short-length films, panels, and receptions. Kicking off with the US premiere of Peter Mettler's documentary The End of Time, other festival highlights include a discussion on the world of dreams and the subconscious; a screening of Welcome to the Machine, Avi Zev Weider's provocative feature that looks at the increasing role of technology in human civilization; and a shorts program that dissects death, diseases, and consciousness. A special edition of Secret Science Club featuring an experiment by Professor Luis Nieto is also in the lab work, as well as an evening of avant-garde science films co-presented by Tribeca Film Festival. For those up for some mind expansion, we suggest checking the film guide, grabbing your thinking cap, and heading out to one of this fest's synapse-stimulating events.”
