2012 Margaret Mead Film Festival

Nov 29, 2012 – Dec 2, 2012

American Museum of Natural History

200 Central Park West

Cultures from around the world are brought together for this four-day festival named after the great 20th Century American anthropologist, Margaret Mead. Exploring such subjects as the recent Egyptian revolution, Brazil in the '60s, the environmental movement, and an island in the Bay of Bengal populated by sex workers, this year's festival theme is Whose Story Is It?. In addition to the 29 films screening, a number of events round out the program, including a Bhangra Dance Party, an African drumming performance, a discussion of the role of stories in our lives, interactive games, and a closing night Brazilian-themed celebration. For the globally curious, there's plenty to discover at this open-minded affair.
