The Hollywood Museum in the gorgeous Art Deco Max Factor Building presents Loretta Young: Hollywood Legend, in honor of the 100th anniversary of the birth of one of Hollywood’s biggest stars. Young began her career as a child actress during the silent era and ascended to leading-lady roles during the '30s and '40s. She cemented her reputation as a fashion icon in the '50s, when she became known for swanning into view in a fabulous outfit on The Loretta Young Show every week. The memorabilia on display includes both costumes and her own designer clothing, including five gowns designed by esteemed Hollywood costumer Jean Louis (along with a costume he designed for Lana Turner in Imitation of Life). Also see exquisite jewelry and accessories from Young's personal wardrobe; home movies; publicity and personal photos; décor from her homes in Beverly Hills and Palm Springs; contracts and private papers; and her Academy Award and two Emmys. Among the juicier effects: love letters from two of her leading men: Clark Gable and Spencer Tracy. It's a must-see for lovers of classic Hollywood.
