Vertigo (1958) in 70mm

Sunday Dec 9, 2012 (7:30pm)

Aero Theatre

When it's good, there's nothing better than a congenial, heroic, funny leading man playing against type — and when that man is Jimmy Stewart, it's good. A policeman with secrets and demons of his own, he's in love with a woman he is supposed to be trailing, whose death is either real or staged, but in either case triggers something like a psychotic break in the normally avuncular good guy. Suspense, icy blondes in tailored suits, unmistakable music, and fabulous retro special effects all contribute to the Hitchcock fun-house nightmare world in which nothing is as it seems.

If you missed one of our recent sold-out screenings, here’s another chance to catch Sight & Sound’s reigning Greatest Film of All Time - in 70mm, no less! A retired San Francisco detective (James Stewart) suffering from acrophobia investigates the strange activities of a troubled woman (Kim Novak) he's hired to follow, all the while becoming dangerously obsessed with her, in Hitchcock's classic.
