When George Lucas and Stephen Spielberg first brainstormed settings for Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, they considered a valley of dinosaurs, a Scottish haunted house, and a high-speed chase along the Great Wall of China. The final result is by far the darkest and most controversial of the Indy movies, set in a demonic temple in India. Tonight, join the adventurous, whip-toting archeologist as he battles off a religious cult, captures an artifact, and gets the girl — all with the help of a wise-cracking Chinese boy called Short Round.

Egyptian Theatre says…

For those unfamiliar with Indiana Jones, all three films feature brilliant, non-stop adventure from director Steven Spielberg and producer George Lucas. Raiders of the Lost Ark features archaologist Harrison Ford battling occult-obsessed Nazis and former girlfriend Karen Allen as he attempts to save the Ark of the Covenant.  In Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, we find Jones fleeing Shanghai and attempting to help free a village's children from indentured servitude to a maniacal cult. In the last installment, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Indiana is searching for his father (Sean Connery), a brilliant archaeologist who has been kidnapped by the Nazis.
