Pasadena Confidential

Saturday Dec 1, 2012 (noon–4pm)

Various LA locations

Pasadena Confidential is easily one of Esotouric's most captivating jaunts to date, made all the more sinister and surreal with the addition of the Crimebo the Clown. The delightfully demonic balloon artist specializes in swords and machine-guns, and is full of little-known factoids, such as the city's public urination laws and the most commonly stolen candy in America (M&Ms). He joins the offbeat Esotouric guides for a cruise through Pasadena's dark and mysterious backyard, pointing out just why "every neighborhood gets the crime it deserves." What was once home to well-to-do wintertime vacationers, Pasadena has a strange, sometimes sordid history, best told through the crimes themselves. Highlights include the site of an 1897 dog-mauling and the steps of what is now the Scottish Rite Cathedral, where wealthy dentist Leonard Siever was shot dead in 1933 in an unsolved murder. The bus also drives past the former home of Robert Kennedy's assassin, Sirhan Sirhan, and the site where 37-year-old Jet Propulsion Lab co-founder and occultist, Jack Parsons, died in a mysterious explosion in 1952.

Esotouric says…

The Crown City masquerades as a calm and refined retreat, where well-bred ladies glide around their perfect bungalows and everyone knows what fork to use first. But don't be fooled by appearances...
