Workshop Kitchen + Bar is an über-stylish new restaurant in Palm Springs, with a breathtaking design that bridges both modernity and classic architecture. Housed in a Palm Springs landmark, a Spanish-style structure built in 1926, its interior has been adaptively reused from its previous retail usage. This beautifully designed space features 27-foot cathedral ceiling trusses, concrete booths that soar to the ceiling, and chic, sleek light fixtures created by Beirut-based PS Lab. Workshop is about more than high design, however - they serve notable food that's more modern and sophisticated than is generally found in the desert. The locally sourced farm-to-table menu includes a duck confit quesadilla with mango guacamole and mint salsa, shaved fennel salad, flat-iron steak, and Texas redfish with purple artichoke salad. The cocktail program, propelled by the tenets of freshness and seasonality, is a balance of classic cocktails and new signature cocktails devised by Rene Dominguez, the bar manager. One of Rene's signatures is the Higgins, a blend of amber rum, white whiskey, cinnamon-infused sweet vermouth, local honey, and fresh OJ. Also enjoy punch service from vintage punch bowls, such as The Bombay Government Punch, adapted from a 300-year-old recipe, uniting Jamaica rum, VSOP cognac, green tea, demerara sugar, fresh lime juice, cinnamon, and grapefruit oil. Partake at the communal table, in a sky-high booth, or enjoy al fresco dining in the courtyard, which has been adapted for the desert weather with misters for hot days and heaters for cool evenings. Workshop Kitchen + Bar is more than worthy of a getaway to Palm Springs.

Workshop Kitchen + Bar says…

Our kitchen is based around seasonal products from local farms, so the menu changes often; we enjoy the playfulness and creativity in that. Although "Americana" may best describe the style of our food, influences are many. Favorite techniques in the kitchen include our wood-fired pizza oven, wood-fired grill, and custom sous-vide station.
