The Six is a restaurant and bar in Studio City with an emphasis on California-influenced comfort food. Named for the "Society of Six," a group of California artists who gathered during Prohibition to discuss art, eat, and drink bootleg liquor, the space has a vintage-inspired feeling. Pressed tin ceilings, brown leather seating, and mercury-dipped Edison light bulbs accentuate the decor, along with photos of the owners' heroes: Charles Bukowksi, Cary Grant, Steve McQueen, Grace Kelly, Bruce Lee, and Audrey Hepburn. The thin-crusted pizzas made in their wood-burning oven are noteworthy, particularly the mushroom with tapenade and truffle oil. Also notable are the mushroom toast, the burger served on a brioche bun, and the salad with burrata, almonds, and pear. The best items on their decadent desert list are s'mores tart, apple cinnamon bread pudding, and banana cream pie with an Oreo cookie crust. Drinks include craft beers, wine, and a cocktail list created by the president of the US Bartenders Guild. The heated patio seats 60 and will reportedly be the scene for occasional silent movie screenings.
