Gowanus Print Lab says…

Typography is the art of arranging type to make language visible. In this class, you will learn how to harness typography as your visual voice. Topics to be discussed include the history of typography, how digitization has changed type design, applications of the letterform, anatomy of a typeface (kerning, tracking, font classifications) and more. Examples will be shown in class to illustrate trends throughout history and class will critique good, the bad and the ugly of type.

Optional homework assignments experimenting with type will be given at the end of class.

Love your final project and want to screenprint a well-kerned poster? Students enrolled in this course will receive a $50 credit towards Intro to Screen Printing or Poster Printing to be used within 30 days of course completion.
